Welcome to the USCB Web, the Internet home for the Carolina Sea Islands campus of the University of South Carolina.
Here, you can learn about our programs of study, meet faculty and students, explore our campuses and student life, and discover the wonders of our extraordinary coastal region, including Charleston, Hilton Head Island, St. Helena Island and Savannah.
You'll find information on the historic North Campus in the heart of charming, downtown Beaufort and the new South Campus at the gateway to Hilton Head Island. You'll discover beaches, creeks, cycling paths, hiking trails, tennis courts, golf courses and fishing holes as well as historic sites, the amenities of an international resort destination and two of the South's most popular tourist cities, which are within easy drives.
You can tour the South Campus student apartments that opened in fall 2005. You can read comments from our first residential students, who come from other states and nations as well as from our region. These students are here to help us build this university into a distinctive one. And I believe that the rich environment that already attracts writers, artists, techies, professors and others who choose to work in a place where they want to live will also attract students who will choose to learn in a place where they want to live. Truth is, this a perfect place to learn and live.
As we grow, we plan to utilize to the fullest the unique attributes of our region so that the core liberal arts and sciences are enhanced by the study of Gullah and native cultures, and geological, ecological and marine research. Hospitality interns will expand their work at world-class resorts, and increasing numbers of interns in the state's only Human Services Degree program will respond to the growing demand from local service organizations and businesses. But while programs profit from local opportunities, a federal grant to support international studies, an active travel abroad program and extensive efforts by the faculty to globalize the curriculum ensure that when you graduate from here, you'll be prepared to go anywhere.
