Administration and Interpretation of Assessment Tests The Self Directed Search, developed by John Holland, is available free of charge to USCB students.Holland’s Career Development Theory is based on the idea that one’s interests and skills fall into six separate categories.Students will discover in which of the six categories their skills and interests are strongest.Career Services can then match potential occupations to the student’s Holland profile.
Resume and Cover Letter Review Our staff can critique your resume and cover letter, so that they make the most impact on a potential employer.We can also refer you to resources in the Career Library that may be helpful.
Students - see our Sample Resume and Sample Cover Letter and use them as templates to create your own. Then have Career Services critique them.
Mock Interviews
Students may schedule a mock interview appointment with Career Services to practice their interviewing skills.Appointments last between 45 minutes and 1 hour.The interviewer will spend the first portion of the appointment asking the student interview questions they are likely to face in a real job interview.The remainder of the appointment is used to critique and hone the student’s answers, so they can achieve maximum effectiveness.
Job Postings Located on the South Campus, students can view the Career Services bulletin board, just outside the Student Services Suite. Information about job postings and other helpful tips are posted. Information on Graduate Schools Considering graduate school? The Career Library includes books on graduate programs in the various academic disciplines, information on graduate training for specific career areas, and materials related to the graduate school application and admissions processes.
Career Resource Library Housed at the South Campus in Career Services, these resources include career books, magazines, videos, materials for developing interviewing skills, writing resumes and cover letters, salary information, job trends and helpful information to assist in the job search process and finding national and international internships.
