Beaufort Performing Arts, Inc. was established in 2003 by the mayor's task force (consisting of representatives of the city of Beaufort, the University of South Carolina at Beaufort, and several local arts supporters). BPA, Inc.'s purpose was to encourage cultural and economic development within the City and County of Beaufort by using the performing arts center at USCB.
BPA's mission is to entertain, educate, and enlighten residents, students, and visitors of the Beaufort area through the performing arts.
VALUES
We believe:
Presenting professional, quality entertainment will bring economic growth, support tourism, and bring diversity to the area.
We are a part of a larger world and that our organization has the responsibility to create connections, build bridges, and celebrate diverse cultures.
Performing arts can galvanize the community by bringing diverse groups together for a common goal and by doing so supports a diversity of cultural values.
Enabling the performing arts can motivate us to aspire to our dreams and encourage us to be enthusiastic lovers of the arts throughout life.
The performing arts encourage the power of imagination and critical thinking.
Providing young people an experience with the performing arts will give them opportunities to work cooperatively with others and will inspire them to lead more fulfilling lives.
We must be attentive stewards of our resources and alliances.
