Robert J. Ackerman, Ph.D., is a Professor of Sociology and Director of the Human Services and Sociology degree programs in the Department of Social Science at USCB. A founder of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics, Dr. Ackerman is widely recognized as an international authority on the deleterious effects of alcohol and drug abuse on families and children. He has been called upon to deliver countless speaking engagements and has made guest appearances on many television shows, including “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “Today.” He has also appeared in films, videos and webcasts. Dr. Ackerman’s work has been featured in The New York Times, Newsweek, CNN Headline News, USA Today and other print and broadcast media.
