USCB Hosts Pinning Ceremony for Bachelor of Science in Nursing Graduates

Today’s event was the sixth ceremony since the inception of the BSN program at USCB in 2011. It took place at 1:00 p.m. at the Center for the Arts. The nursing class of 2016 consists of 30 pre-licensure students and 6 RN-to-BSN students.

The pre-licensure track in the Bachelor of Science program in Nursing at USCB provides a four-year course of study for BSN students. The RN to BSN track provides the opportunity for working nurses with an associate degree to obtain the baccalaureate in nursing. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Many students in the program have gone on to work at local hospitals and health care centers.

“These talented degree candidates will soon join the 163 BSN alumni who have graduated from USCB since 2009,” said Rose Kearney-Nunnery, Ph.D., R.N. Dr. Kearney-Nunnery is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Nursing and Health Professions at the university. “We are so pleased that our graduates will soon join the workforce and be able to take the skills they have learned here and use them in their career.”

The lapel pin presented to each nurse candidate signifies the honor of the nursing profession and the school from which the nurse graduated. The pin awarded today was designed by graduates of the first BSN class in 2011.
