The Satisfaction of Health Promotion

Health promotion is one of the fastest-growing areas of specialization in the field of professional health care today. Graduates of USCB’s Bachelor of Science with a major in Health Promotion will be able to exert a positive influence on a wide range of lifestyle, social and environmental issues. These include:  alcohol and substance abuse, tobacco use, nutrition, physical activity, chronic diseases, depression and more.

Today’s Health Promotion graduates may apply their counseling skills in primary and secondary schools, in colleges, hospitals and health care facilities, in the workplace, in community centers, hotels and resorts, on cruise ships, in fitness centers, in local and state government organizations, and in health agencies worldwide.

What can I do with a degree in Health Promotion?

Graduates of the B.S. in Health Promotion program can become health educators, community education specialists, exercise specialists, fitness club managers, cardiac community service coordinators. New career opportunities are being created every day.

Purpose Statement

The purpose of the Bachelor of Science with a major in Health Promotion is to prepare students for the multidisciplinary field of practice that is concerned with designing, implementing and evaluating interventions that enable individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities to play active roles in achieving, protecting and sustaining health. The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. ( identifies seven areas of responsibility for health educators. The program is grounded in these seven areas and students will be prepared to sit for this optional certification exam.
