Pre Nursing Requirements for the BSN Track
Admission to USCB

- Liberal arts (15 credits): Fine Arts, History, Psychology (2 courses, general and developmental), Sociology
- Natural Sciences (16 credits): Anatomy & Physiology I/ II & Lab, Chemistry & Lab, Microbiology & Lab
- Foreign Language (6 credits)
- Non-Western Studies (3 credits) - Medical Anthropology or Transcultural Health
- Nutrition (3 credits)
- Elective (3 - 9 credits)
- Statistics (3 credits)
Required prior to admission
Anatomy & Physiology I&II (BIOL B243 & B244)
English Composition & English Composition & Literature (ENGL B101 & B102)
College Algebra (MATH B111 or B111L)
Psychology & Development Psychology (PSYC B101 & B321)
Chemistry (CHEM B109)
Sociology (SOCY B101)
Microbiology (BIOL B230)
Nutrition (BHRM B240)
Speech (COMM B140, B201 or B230)
Statistics (STAT B201)
Overall GPA must be 3.0 or higher to apply to the nursing major, including a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 in the required natural science courses (one semester of Anatomy and one semester of Physiology or A & P I and A & P II, Chemistry 109, and Microbiology).**
In addition to course requirements:
Students in the BSN major will be responsible for the following (costs not included in university tuition and fees):
Annual Medical Clearances as required by law and clinical placement agencies
- Physical exam
- Immunizations
- Drug testing
Textbooks, uniforms, supplies (stethoscope, watch, etc), transportation to/from clinical sites, CPR certification and clearances (criminal background check)
Technology
- Personal PC/mobile devices
- Printer
- Software requirements for coursework and university communication

**If your GPA falls below a 3.00 at the end of the fall semester, your acceptance into the BSN major will be withdrawn.
