Christine J. Ferguson, Ph.D.Ferguson

Christine J. Ferguson, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Education and
Professor earned a B.S. in Child Development, an M.S. in Family and Child Development, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University. She earned her Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education from the
University of South Carolina. 
Prior to coming to USCB, Dr. Ferguson worked at Winthrop University for 14 
years, where she served as Program Coordinator and Professor. Before
entering the teacher education field, she taught in university child development laboratories and public school settings for 14 years.  Dr. Ferguson’s scholarship
interests are in the area of home-school-community connections, mathematics
and literature integration, and children’s literacy development through play. She
has presented her scholarship at numerous state, regional, and national
conferences, and has published one peer-reviewed book, one book chapter, 
and more than 15 refereed articles.
