When you become an English major, you are assigned a faculty advisor. This advisor is there to listen to you, provide advice about the classes you want and need, and to help you think about your career after USCB. Express your interests to your advisor so that you can get better advice about your course of study.
You must be advised every semester before you can sign up for classes the next semester.
To facilitate this process, it's important for you to familiarize yourself with the required English Curriculum, next semester's Master Schedule, and the next semester's English course descriptions (from our Courses page). Before you meet with your advisor, plan a possible schedule of courses for next semester (and look at the times -- only you know what will work with your schedule). Once you have been advised, your advising hold will be removed. Now you need to sign up for classes on Self Service Carolina. This is important to assure yourself of a seat in the more popular classes.
Getting Ready to Graduate
Early in the semester before your final semester at USCB, it is important to make an appointment with the Department Chair to get a signed graduate audit. You will take this to the Registrar's Office where you will also need to complete an application for graduation.
