Professor Beck is Professor Emerita at Maryville College, Tennessee, and currently lecturer in English at USCB, has published articles on Randall Jarrell, Cleanth Brooks, Flannery O’Connor, and Robert Penn Warren. Former president of the Robert Penn Warren Circle, she edited the Fall 1994-95 Warren issue of The Mississippi Quarterly. Her book, The Fugitive Legacy: A Critical History (LSU Press, 2001), was awarded the 2002 C. Hugh Holman Award for literary scholarship by Society for the Study of Southern Literature. Her most recent book, Robert Penn Warren: Critic was published in 2006 by the University of Tennessee Press, for whom she is currently at work on a complete edition of Warren’s criticism.
