In memory of Charles Fraser and his resort development philosophy, USCB has received official approval from the Fraser family to host the inaugural Charles E. Fraser Sustainable Resort Development Conference in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The conference will: (1) memorialize Charles Fraser’s sustainability commitment to the Sea Islands community, and (2) contribute to the sustainable efforts of the resort industry.
Charles Fraser’s commitment to sustainable development is recognized internationally by the lodging and resort industry. His practices have impacted resort development and operations in both beach and mountain communities. The conference mission is to establish an open dialogue among practitioners and academicians that concentrates on current sustainable resort development issues, challenges, and resolutions. The dialogue will include both the positive and negative consequences affiliated with resort sustainable practices. More specifically, the social, environmental, economic consequences related to advancing a community’s sustainable efforts will be discussed.
