The Biology program at USCB is designed to provide students with comprehensive exposure to the biological sciences at the molecular, physiological, organismal, and ecological levels.
The Business Administration program at USCB focuses on creating a learning environment that prepares students to successfully meet the dynamic global, technological and ethical challenges of business and society.
A degree in Communication Studies helps you develop practical communication skills for engagement around campus, in the workplace, at home, in society, and in the world. Students who earn a degree in Communication Studies successfully find employment opportunities in a variety of areas where effective interpersonal, organizational, intercultural, ethical, and media savvy communication expertise is required.
The B.S. in Computational Science at the University of South Carolina Beaufort is specially designed to introduce students to cutting-edge computational and quantitative skills relevant to their concentration or interests. Consequently, the program will facilitate interdisciplinary study and research with other University departments and programs.
The Early Childhood Education program at USCB creates graduates who enter classrooms ready to tackle the tough job of teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic.
The vision of the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s (USCB’s) Department of Education is to establish USCB as the primary resource for educators and school systems in the Lowcountry. This is accomplished through partnerships with school districts and educators, outreach to the community, and the development of USCB as the recognized source of expertise and activity in education. Specifically, the unit envisions an education unit that educates and trains prospective teachers based on accepted research and developmental practices strengthened by professional preparation experiences in the public schools of the region.
The English program at USCB is dedicated to cultivating in its students a broad cultural awareness and the ability to read carefully, think critically, and write effectively.
The History program at USCB is dedicated to cultivating in its students a broad cultural and historical awareness and encourages students to develop a broad perspective on the past alongside a deeper understanding of at least one particular period and set of issues.
Hospitality Management (Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism)
The Hospitality Management program at USCB provides a comprehensive curriculum that focuses on preparing students for managerial positions in the hospitality industry.
The Human Services program at USCB prepares graduates with the requisite abstract knowledge in the social/behavioral sciences, as well as in applied/practical/technical knowledge to serve their prospective employers.
The Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies (BLST) is designed specifically to meet the needs of certain transfer students, non-traditional students, students with particular strengths and needs, and students who wish to take as much advanced study as possible in disciplines in which USCB does not presently offer majors.
Nursing offers two nursing program tracks, a pre-licensure four year educational track and a RN - BSN completion track. Following graduation pre-licensure students are eligible to take the National Licensure Exam for state licensure as a registered nurse. The purpose of the Bachelor of Science with a major in Health Promotion is to broadly prepare students for the multidisciplinary field of practice that is concerned with designing, implementing and evaluating interventions that enable individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities to play active roles in achieving, protecting and sustaining health.
The Psychology program at USCB creates graduates who have been exposed to the broad spectrum of subfields of psychology, giving them the skills useful for professions such as counseling and medicine, but also in such diverse fields as law, human services, community and public affairs and more.
The sociology program at University of South Carolina Beaufort provides to its students the theoretical, conceptual, and methodological analytical tools to describe and explain human social life and the multifaceted connections between society and the individual. Mastery of the principles of social stratification (esp. age, gender, race and ethnicity), social organization, socialization, deviance and social control, institutions, and social change allow graduates in sociology to analyze and understand phenomena associated with rapid urbanization, such as population growth, crime, and divorce rates. The program seeks to provide students with a well-rounded academic experience that also prepares students for graduate study and/or careers in such areas as public health/epidemiology, marketing research, criminology and criminal justice, and social services.
The Spanish program creates graduates who have learned the Spanish language, literature and culture and provides them with Hispanic cultural skills that result in their becoming more articulate and analytical, as well as historically and socially informed.
The Studio Art degree program provides students with a focus in studio arts (visual arts primarily, but graphic and media arts as they become feasible), and in the history of art, within the context of the liberal arts. The program will prepare graduates both for professional careers in the arts and graduate programs in fine arts.
