Mission

 The Office of Student Life implements and provides support for a wide range of co-curricular activities and programs for the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) student body including: campus-wide programming, multicultural programming, advisement of the Student Government Association and student organizations, fitness, recreation and intramural opportunities as well as community service initiatives on and off campus. The Office of Student Life also provides leadership opportunities for USCB students to complement their academic life and learning with hands-on learning experience within the campus and larger community. The Office of Student Life oversees the production of the university-wide Student Handbook and facilitates the new and transfer-student orientation in summer and winter for the fall and spring terms....

 

 

Martin Luther King Jr. Service Opportunities  

Saturday, Jan 14th: Hilton Head has organized a Day of Service for the Children's Center from 9am-12noon. Volunteers are needed to landscape the playground and for grounds maintenance. If you are interested in helping out plan to meet in the Campus Center Student Lounge at 8:00. Breakfast will be provided for volunteers.

 

Monday, Jan 16th: Parades are being held in Bluffton, Hilton Head and Beaufort. Hilton Head invites everyone to come out and march in the parade from 10am-11am. After the march there will be a cookout and a memorial speaker.

 Beaufort will hold their parade on Monday morning. The parade ends at the USCB campus in Beaufort and our Chancellor, Jane T. Upshaw will be the keynote speaker.

 Bluffton will hold a parade downtown beginning at 2. There will a cookout afterward and everyone is invited.

 Volunteers are also needed Monday to help at the Peeler House in Savannah. Peeler House is a transistional living space for women and children who are homeless. Volunteers are needed to paint exterior and interior spaces. We will leave campus at 7:30am from the Campus Center Student Lounge if you are interested in participating.

 

 

Documentary showings

Tuesday, January 17th at 7pm: The documentary The Black Power Mix-Tape 1967-1975, will be show shown in the Center for the Arts on the Historic Beaufort campus (801 Carteret Street Beaufort SC).  This film, which is part of the Emerging Cinema program, is comprised of 16mm material shot by Swedish journalists who came to the US drawn by stories of urban unrest and revolution. Thursday, January 19th at 7pm: The documentary Rejoice and Shout will be show shown in the Center for the Arts on the Historic Beaufort campus (801 Carteret Street Beaufort SC).  This film, which is part of the Emerging Cinema program, is packed with evocative photos, rare audio recordings, stirring film appearances and TV performances, Rejoice and Shout covers the 200 year musical history of African-American Christianity and traces the evolution of Gospel through its many musical styles.
