Military Programs at USCB
USCB Welcomes Military Students
The University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) is committed to helping Tri-command area military personnel and their family members pursue a university degree. Course times and schedules are arranged with the military lifestyle in mind. Classes are offered on the Air Station or Parris Island. Or students can join the larger university community by choosing classes on campuses in historic Beaufort and at the gateway to Hilton Head Island.
Benefit from the Full University Experience
USCB is a four year university with deep local roots and the
resources of a major state university system. Our 200-acre South
Campus boasts one of the most technologically advanced libraries
on the East Coast– podcast lectures, virtual classrooms, interactive
videoconferencing and collaborative computer labs enliven the
learning environment. Our beautiful waterfront campus in historic
Beaufort is the site of the founding of Beaufort College in 1795 and
has offered University of South Carolina courses since 1959.
Students benefit from faculty student interaction in a personal setting; our average class size is 16. Full-time, on-site USCB faculty members are dedicated to student success. Military personnel and their families can take advantage of as much university campus life as they wish–by taking classes on campus and by joining in student clubs and activities.

associate degree may be awarded for educational experience in the
military, such as recruit training, MOS schools and CLEP, Dantes and

the liberal and fine arts, and broaden their historical and cultural
awareness. Students study the social and natural sciences, acquire
technological and information literacy, and build skills in numerical
and analytical reasoning.

associate degree and continue directly into the coursework leading
to a baccalaureate degree. Areas of study leading to a baccalaureate

Benefits for Military Personnel and their Families
On Base Offices. USCB’s full-time Office of Military Programs, with
locations on both the Air Station and Parris Island, helps students
balance military and university life. USCB on-base staff assist
prospective students with admissions, tuition assistance and
transfer of credits. They are available to help with scheduling,
registration and academic advising.
Scheduling to accommodate the demands of a military career. To better serve the schedules of military personnel, USCB offers five eight-week sessions each year. Classes begin in January, March, June, August and October.
Military students have priority in all on-base classes; civilians join the on-base courses on a space available basis.
USCB is a member of Service Members Opportunity Colleges
(SOC), a consortium of colleges who work together to assist
military students in finishing degrees if their studies are disrupted
by a relocation or deployment.
