Randy Lamkin, Ph.D.

Randy Lamkin is Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at USCB. He serves as Interim Chair of the Department of Social Sciences.
Lamkin received a B.A. degree in sociology from Augusta College. Augusta College is the oldest public university in the state of Georgia. He earned an M.A. degree in sociology and a Ph.D. in sociology in from the University of Connecticut. His dissertation was entitled, “A Multivariate Analysis of Selected Social and Psychological Precursors of the Coronary Prone (Type A) Behavior Pattern.”
In addition to teaching at USC-Columbia, the College of Charleston, the University of Maryland University College, and Scottsdale Community College, Randy was Director of Educational Services at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia. Dr. Lamkin has also owned his own organizational development and training firm that focused on team-building and strategic planning as well as trauma-response training and emergency response to workplace violence.
He served on the board of United Way of the Lowcountry from 2013 to 2016. In his spare time, he is writing a historical novel set in Beaufort County in the early 1800s.
