The Beaufort College Honors (BCH) Admissions


The Beaufort College Honors (BCH) program is a residential cohort on the Beaufort campus, designed to offer a shared experience with students living together, studying together and having specific experiences to enhance learning, improve engagement, and develop a sense of community.  Beaufort College Honors (BCH) will offer programs in Biology, Nursing and Lowcountry Studies.


Beaufort College Honors Biology

The Biology BCH program will offer experiential learning opportunities and undergraduate research opportunities in both coastal ecology and biomedical studies.  Biology Honors students will transition to the Bluffton campus for their junior and senior years.

Beaufort College Honors Lowcountry Studies

The Lowcountry Studies BCH cohort, open to all majors, is the only one of its kind in the nation and the premier destination for students wishing to build a broad educational and professional foundation in the study of Lowcountry culture, traditions, and institutions.  Lowcountry Studies students will transition to the Bluffton campus after their freshman year.

Beaufort College Honors Nursing

The Nursing BCH program will offer students direct acceptance into the Nursing Program as entering freshman.  *Additional requirements include: two letters of recommendation, resume and evidence of honors, awards, leadership activities and community/volunteer service.  Nursing Honors students will transition to the Bluffton campus for their junior and senior years.


Minimum requirements include:

  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, with a minimum math and science GPA of 3.0
  • SAT score of 1100 or higher or an ACT score of 22 or higher
  • 500 word essay:

    Essay Topics:

    Biology:  Describe your career goals and how a honors degree in biology will help you attain   those goals.

    Lowcountry Studies:  Describe your career goals and how an honors degree will help you attain those goals.

    Nursing:  What is the most pressing health care issue today and how do you envision nursing playing a role in improving the public's health?
  • Nursing honors program will have additional requirements.  (see above)

Supporting documents need to be submitted via email to by December 1st, 2018 to be considered for acceptance into the program.


Students accepted into the Beaufort College Honors program will receive an annual $4,000 honors scholarship ($2,000 per semester) in addition to any other scholarships earned for up to four years.



Honors students will live on the Beaufort campus in new "apartment style" campus housing.
