Students eligible for this residential program must have a minimum of 2.0 cumulative high school core GPA to qualify for the program. Students with less than a 2.0 cumulative high school core GPA will be considered on a space available basis.
As the Scholars program is a collaborative partnership between both institutions, students applying to USC Salkehatchie will not be extended admissions to this program. Applicants that are a resident of Allendale, Barnwell, Bamberg, Colleton and Hampton, S.C. will not be eligible for the Scholars program and are encouraged to apply to USC Salkehatchie for regular admission.
The Sand Shark Scholars Program extends for one year, from the fall through spring semester. Each semester, program students will be enrolled in five program specific courses. To successfully complete the program, students must earn 30 transferable credit hours and earn at least a 2.0 GPA within the designated time frame.

But first, there are some important steps you need to take to become a USCB Sand Shark Scholar student. Please use these guidelines as a reference to help guide you through the enrollment process. All Sand Shark Scholars students wishing to participate in the program must submit the Confirmation of Attendance Form that was mailed to you with your Offer Letter. Submission of the form is required to express your interest in being a part of the program.
All Sand Shark Scholars students wishing to confirm a space in the program must submit a $300 non-refundable enrollment confirmation deposit. The enrollment deposit will be deducted from your Fall Semester fees. To reserve your space, students must submit the confirmation deposit and required housing contract no later than May 1. However, those who are heavily considering this opportunity are encouraged to submit the Confirmation of Attendance Form and non-refundable $300.00 enrollment confirmation deposit as soon as they can.
Confirmation deposits may be submitted by check or money order, along with the Confirmation of Attendance Form found in the student's initial offer packet. Mailed Deposits may be paid by personal check or money order. Please do not send cash. Confirmation deposits can only be refunded until May 1.
