I am the Accreditation Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. My research focuses on effective professional learning with coaching and mentorship using positive relationship-building. I earned my doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction Leadership from Carson-Newman University and my masters and undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and English, respectively, from the University of Tennessee.

I started my career in 2007 as a fourth-grade teacher and eventual TAP Mentor Teacher at a Title 1 school in Knoxville, TN before becoming a TAP Master Teacher elsewhere in Knox County. In 2014, I joined the South Carolina Department of Education as a Regional Master Teacher helping to develop and deliver professional development as well as plan and implement observation, coaching, and feedback structures with superintendents, principals, instructional coaches, mentor teachers, and career teachers, specifically in high poverty and rural areas. In 2018, I transitioned to an educational consulting company as an analyst where I wrote proposals and organized and executed client projects focused strategic planning, recruitment and retention, professional learning and coaching, accelerated learning, equity analysis and support, and leadership academies. I began adjunct teaching at USCB in 2016, and I joined the USCB faculty in January of 2023.

In addition to my responsibilities as Accreditation Coordinator, I teach Senior Seminar and supervise interns in the professional program. As an instructor, I strive to create a safe, engaging learning environment focused on continual professional reflection and growth.
