Michael Foss, MS
Instructor of Mathematics

I am an Instructor of Mathematics in the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB).
I earned BA degrees in Mathematics and Spanish at Providence College, in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2019. After completing my undergraduate studies, I earned a MS in Mathematical Sciences from Clemson University in 2021. My research focused on using environmental and meteorological explanatory variables to construct a model that predicted ground-level ozone concentrations and varying locations throughout Massachusetts.
After earning my MS, I worked for the United States Census Bureau in Suitland, Maryland, as a mathematical statistician. I worked primarily on economic and demographic surveys and supported various phases of the data lifecycle, including estimation, imputation, and sample selection. For most of that time, I concurrently served as an adjunct instructor for USCB, teaching courses such as College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Finite Mathematics, Calculus II and Calculus for Business Administration and Social Science.
