Xiaomei Zhang, PhD

My name is Xiaomei Zhang. I'm an Associate Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics at USCB.

I earned a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2010, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 2016.

Science 2016, I have been with the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. At USCB, I participated in the development of a new master’s program in computer science and a new undergraduate program in information science and technology. I taught various undergraduate-level and graduate-level courses including computer networks, data mining, computer security, digital logic design, and introduction to computer science. I also supervised undergraduate students on various research projects and supervised many graduate students on their master's thesis and independent studies.

My research interests include mobile computing, mobile social networks, wireless communications, network security, and data science. I published more than 20 papers on those research topics at top-tier computer science conferences and journals, including IEEE transactions. I also published a short book on SpringerBriefs in Statistics. I served on the technical program committee board for many IEEE conferences and peer-reviewed hundreds of research papers in the networking and communications field.
