Frank Byrd

Hospitality Management
Class of 2021

Frank Byrd

Frank was born and raised in South Carolina in a little farm town called McBee. He fell in love with the low country and wanted to attend USC Beaufort above any other school that he toured and applied to. His heart was filled with joy and his mind was made up when he received the acceptance letter from USCB.

Initially, Frank's plan was to earn an Elementary Education degree and become a teacher. However, after his first 3 semesters, he decided that he was better suited for the field of Hospitality Management. He's thankful for that decision as Frank loves working in an industry where he serves people and provides memorable experiences.

After completing his degree, Frank moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. His education opened the door at Chetola Resort. He worked his way up the ladder until he earned the position of Group Sales Manager, where he booked and planned meetings, retreats, and private events for businesses, non-profits, universities, private schools, families, and even private clubs.

After almost 4 years at Chetola, Frank decided that he wanted to move to San Antonio, Texas in August 2025. However, less than 2 weeks before he was going to move to Texas, Frank received an offer to be the Group Sales Manager from his former boss at Fontana Village Resort & Marina in Western North Carolina and he couldn’t turn down that offer.

USCB helped Frank grow into the professional that he is today. He couldn’t be anymore thankful for the experiences and friendships that he made there. Frank's heart will always be at USCB. Fins up forever!

Kacie Perryman

Human Services
Class of 2016

Kacie Perryman

Kacie was born and raised in upstate New York before making her way south for college, graduating from the University of South Carolina Beaufort with a degree in Human Services. USCB played a pivotal roll in Kacie’s success after college. She credits her faculty mentor, Dr. Najmah Thomas for always being her supporter and advocate while in the program and after graduation. Post graduation, she worked for PPR (now Medical Solutions) Travel Nursing as a Quality Management Specialist and then went on to work as a paralegal for an attorney in South Carolina. She was an integral member of the fundraising team with the Wounded Warrior Project in Jacksonville and is now the Associate Director of Development and Alumni Affairs with the University of Florida College of Nursing.

Kacie and her husband, Gavin, now live in Gainesville, FL. While no longer in SC, Kacie still holds the lowcountry and USCB near to her heart. Last year, she founded the Kacie Perryman Excellence in Human Services Scholarship, to give back to deserving Human Services students at her alma mater. She sees the value of private philanthropic support in higher education and hopes to continue to support the success of students within the program that gave her so many wonderful memories and opportunities. n
