Admission to the Professional Program

Take the Next Step Towards Certification

USCB students who are seeking South Carolina educator certification must apply to the Professional Program. Formal admission occurs when students have met the following requirements:

• Completed all general education and content area requirements
• Attended the Pre-Professional Program Orientation
• Maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 in all undergraduate course work
• Completed all pre-professional courses with a "C" or better in each course
• Overall GPA of 3.0 in all Department of Education courses
• Earned the required ACT or SAT exemption scores or achieved passing scores on all three sections of the Praxis^TM Core Academic Skills for Educators subtests. (Official scores must be submitted to, and received by, the SC Department of Education - code 8108 and USCB - code 5841)
• Completed 25 hours working with children or adolescents (or the Teacher Cadet Program)

The Professional Program Application Deadlines

Fall: February 1
Spring: October 1
