BA in Early Childhood Education
The Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education is designed for students seeking South Carolina teaching certification in grades Pre-K-3.
Early childhood education majors benefit from engaging hands-on experiences, opportunities to integrate theory with teaching practice as well as extensive field and clinical experiences in local schools. This program provides students with a broad academic background and the professional knowledge, skills and dispositions needed for elementary teachers in grades Pre-K-3.
The curriculum focuses on:
- Instructional strategies
- Teaching methodologies
- Assessment techniques
- Theories of child growth and development
- Elementary school curriculum
- Unique learning needs of exceptional students
The program has embedded clinical experiences throughout the coursework.
The Early Childhood Education program is a 123 credit-hour program. All students seeking to complete the BA in Early Childhood Education degree must be admitted formally into the Professional Program after completion of their General Education and Pre-Professional coursework (see the EPP Handbook on this site for additional Professional Program requirements).
