MIND THE GAP: COMMUNICATING EFFECTIVELY
ACROSS GENERATIONS
PRESENTED BY:
DR. CAROLINE SAWYER, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
COMMUNICATION & INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES
Today’s workplaces bring together multiple generations—each shaped by different experiences, technologies, and expectations about communication. This interactive professional development session explores how generational context influences communication styles, feedback preferences, and workplace norms. Grounded in research from the Pew Research Center, the American Psychological Association, and Harvard Business Review, participants will learn practical, evidence-based strategies for bridging communication gaps, reducing misunderstandings, and strengthening collaboration across age groups. Through reflection, polling, and real-world scenarios, attendees will leave with concrete tools they can immediately apply in their professional roles.
Join us at noon for a 45-minute presentation followed by a 15 minute Q&A. $30 (inc. lunch).
